While this may be a crazy year for the Walk for Animals (you may have heard we're going "virtual"), nothing can stop us from supporting Animal Humane Society and walking for animals in need...even if that means walking around the block instead of enjoying the day on the grounds of AHS.
Pets are essential. They bring joy to our lives when we need it most. They are the perfect greeters when you walk in the door (as long as they haven't left you any accidents), and they know just how to turn your world upside down - for the better.
Addy (my yorkie) or Miss Addyitude as they affectionately call her at doggy daycare is 8 years old now and came into my life when I needed her most. I had just lost my beloved Harley and wasn't looking to replace her, but needed help overcoming the huge hole that was left in my heart. Addy's spunky (and diva-like qualities) helped me work through my loss and open my heart to another animal in need of love.
After more than two and half years working at Animal Humane Society, I started fostering. Suddenly I found myself falling in love with an adorable shih tzu puppy named Sevi. He stole my heart like no other and provided the snuggles and face licks I was craving (he still licks like crazy). He needed a home to call his own and a mama to love him and it was then that I knew I was going to foster fail - he joined his big sister and me permanently and these last three years have flown by. Nicknamed Sevi Bear, he's my cuddlebug - a role his sister is happy to pass off to him.
My heart expands daily because I witness firsthand how your support of Animal Humane Society makes a difference in the lives of so many animals. We care for more than 22,000 dogs, cats and critters each year and provide medical and behavioral care, foster support, food, love, and a safe haven until the animals find a new loving home to call their own. We also provide support to our community through outreach programs, low-cost veterinary care for pets of people in need, training classes, educational programs for kids, and humane investigations for abused and neglected animals. I never knew all those lives (both people and animals) that AHS impacted....and it's why I feel so proud and privileged to work here.
The Walk for Animals is our largest annual fundraiser and this year marks my 12th anniversary!! Please consider helping Addy, Sevi, and me reach our goal of raising $1,000 this year to help animals in need find new homes and new beginnings. We are so thankful for you and hope you will continue to help the many four-legged friends who need our love and support.
We know this year is tough on everyone. Any amount you can give to help us reach our goal will help make a big difference in our furry friends' lives!
Thank you again for your love and support!
