Hello Friends! I am raising money for the Animal Humane Society’s Walk for Animals! The Walk for Animals is our biggest fundraiser of the year, bringing in over a million dollars to fund the work that AHS does. While the world is at a standstill right now, care and support needed by animals is as prevalent as ever. We are unable to come together for the Walk in the way we have in the past, but that will not stop our fundraising efforts from going Virtual!
I am passionate about the mission and the work I do at the Animal Humane Society and I would like to share a little bit about what I have been doing recently.
I started working at the Animal Humane Society in 2011 and I have held many roles within the organization. This last year, I ventured into something new within the organization and I am discovering a whole new way of helping the community and their pets.
I am now working in our low-cost, high-quality veterinary centers. I see us help individuals that have nowhere else to turn. I see passionate staff go the extra mile for people and their pets every day. I see a single surgical team complete 30(!) spay and neuter surgeries in one day. I see community members that are going through a really rough financial patch, come into AHS devastated that they have to give up their family member so they can receive the care they need, walk out of the building WITH their pet because we were able to help them.
I see and hear amazing stories every day. Like the person who burst into tears when we gave them an estimate for a dental that was desperately needed for their pet, not because they couldn't afford it, but because it was over a thousand dollars less than estimates she received elsewhere and she was going to be able to give their pet the procedure they needed. Like the mother of an autistic child that finally found a friend in a cat, a cat that started to have medical issues and the bills were becoming unaffordable. A mother that thought she would need to surrender her child’s beloved pet, who was shocked when she heard what our prices were and was able to continue treatment for the cat and keep him with his child.
We are able to keep our prices low and help people in need because of donors like YOU. In the wake of current world events, people and their animals need the low-cost, high-quality services that AHS Veterinary Centers provide more than ever.
Please support me, the animals, and the people as I participate in this year’s Virtual Walk for Animals. The venue will be different, but the goal of supporting people and their animals will be the same!
