Twas October 2020. We are in the middle of the pandemic. My brother is back at work, and I spend Monday-Friday being anxious by myself. What better way to manage my anxiety than by joining the ranks of those who have gotten pandemic dogs. I see on the Animal Humane Society's website that there is a Kuvasz (an Hungarian guarding dog) and am determined to get her. Due to the pandemic, we have to schedule an appointment to go.
Cue three days later, and the morning of I see the dog I wanted is no longer available. Though disappointed, I decide that since I have the appointment, I might as go. Fully planning to get an adult dog, I walk past the puppy area of the adoption area. Going straight towards the beginning of the adult dogs area, I tell myself I'm gonna walk around and see all the dogs available.
Well. That does not come to be. In that first row of dogs, there is the a lil puppy German Shepherd mix that looks terrified. I instantly fall in and love and know that she's the one for us. The volunteer who helps me learn more about her shares that she was found in Oklahoma in a dumpster with her sister. She's only 8 weeks old, and already the world has not been kind to her.
But the Animal Humane Society's took her in, gave her the care and love she needed so that she could find her forever home with us. As many of you know, Sophie is the best girl, who we would never have found if not for the Animal Humane Society. So this year, to thank them and help future people find their beloved pets, I'm participating in and fundraising for the 2024 Walk for Animals.
Every dollar raised for the Walk ensures AHS has the resources to care for and protect every animal that comes through their doors. Your gift also helps me get closer to reaching my goal.
Please support me and the animals with your donation today. Together, we can make happy new beginnings possible! Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
