Many of you know that AHS has been near and dear to my heart for a long time. I volunteered as a dog adoption volunteer for about 6 years which is how I fell in love with and adopted my best buddy Tulip. It's also where I recently met the sweetest new addition to our pack - Ducky!
Ducky was abandoned at AHS in this winter after experiencing significant injuries. He quickly became beloved by staff as he healed from his wounds and underwent multiple surgeries to remove broken teeth and place drains in his swollen head. Even through his pain, Ducky's sunny disposition and silly personality won over the hearts of everyone he met. Needless to say, he won me over too!
Every year, thousands of dogs, cats, and critters come to Animal Humane Society in need of a second chance. AHS works every day to provide life-changing care and support these animals with food, shelter, medical care, and most importantly, the love they deserve. I will never know exactly what happened to my sweet little Duckling before he came into my life, but I know it was his lucky day when he was brought to Animal Humane Society.
Some animals come and go quickly at AHS - finding homes right away with few medical needs - but there are also many like Ducky, who require extensive care, multiple surgeries, and expensive treatments. I feel truly honored to work at an organization and with people who do this important work.
Please join me as I raise money to help as many Duckies as I can.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
Rachael, Tulip, and Ducky
