Those close to me know I’ve always loved animals. What most do not know is that I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety on and off almost my entire life. As an adult I’ve learned to manage or at times became really good at hiding it (it’s a cold intro but bear with me). When I was too young to understand it, I found comfort and healing amongst the pets I had. They were one of the few constants in my life. On the tough days they were always there just wanting to be loved, a scratch behind the ears, a belly rub or getting their favorite treat. They were truly a gift and I’m so thankful my parents said yes (almost) every time I would bring one home.
I’m fortunate to have a career with an amazing organization that aligns with my passion for animals. Animal Humane Society, who helps thousands of animals in need every year through providing safe shelters and life-changing care.
I’ll be participating in this year’s Walk for Animals, (AHS’s biggest fundraiser of the year) another way for me to give back in honor of all of the furry souls that crossed my path growing up who brought joy when it was needed most.
I’m asking all of you to join me in giving back with a donation of any amount to help give animals in need a second chance and the opportunity to bring comfort and joy to someone.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
