When I tell folks that I work for Animal Humane Society, the immediate thought is that I help find animals homes. In reality, my role is focused on keeping animals in the homes they already have—connecting folks with resources to ensure that an animal’s forever home really is forever.
All of us are one crisis—one job loss, one diagnosis, one natural disaster—away from needing support from programs like ours. That is what I love about being part of AHS Outreach. In animal welfare, we are all tired. Our hearts break ten times a day and we still show up the next day and the day after to do the work because even when our energy is low, the need for support in our community prevails. Whether we care for the animals in-shelter, or are out in the community, we all want the same thing: less animals in the shelter, and more pets in loving homes.
We cannot do this work without support, so I hope you’ll partner with me as I participate in this year's Walk for Animals! Whether you can give one dollar or a thousand, every donation ensures that we are able to continue serving our community and the animals they love.
Thank you so much for valuing the work I and so many others do, and for showing up for animals everywhere. We literally cannot do this without you!
Thank you for your generosity.
PS: Tell your dog I said hi!
