Walk Day FAQ

Is the Walk cancelled?

No! The Walk will go on. That’s right, we’re still Walking for animals with passionate folks just like you by our sides. However, rather than gathering at our Golden Valley shelter, we’ll be celebrating this year’s Walk virtually.

Where and when is the Virtual Walk for Animals?

The Virtual Walk for Animals is Saturday, May 2 and will take place in neighborhoods all across Minnesota as animal lovers lace up their shoes, leash up their pets, and take a stroll for second chances!

Why is the Walk virtual?

Out of an abundance of caution and concern for our staff, volunteers, and community and under the guidance of expert recommendations from the CDC, WHO, and MN DOH, we’ve decided to hold a virtual Walk this year. We feel this is the safest and most responsible option to ensure we can continue providing exceptional care to animals in need while ensuring the health of our community.

How can I participate?

1. Register for the virtual Walk to let animals know they can count on you.

2. Fundraise to help us continue our life-saving work.

3. Spread the word to family and friends who want to make a difference.

Will you still be hosting early check-in events?

Out of concern for the safety of our supporters and staff, early check-in has been cancelled at both our Golden Valley shelter and Summit Brewery in St. Paul.

How long do I need to Walk? Is there a requirement?

Whether you walk around the block, around the entire neighborhood, or walk in place on your treadmill, you’ll be making a difference for animals. Plus, you’ll be part of a virtual movement of animal lovers who are all walking for animals at the same time. A virtual walk means you can set your own pace and distance while making a difference.

How do I confirm my donations and earn my prizes?

All funds raised online through your virtual Walk page or social media are counted automatically.

Please mail all offline donations (cash and checks) with your completed Donation Tracker form as well as any matching gift forms to check-in to 845 Meadow Ln N, Golden Valley, MN 55422. These funds will be added to your virtual Walk fundraising total.

*Due to staff capacity, it may take us longer than normal to enter your offline gifts. We apologize for the inconvenience and want you to rest assured that every donation counts! We’ll make every effort to update your virtual Walk total as quickly as possible after receiving your offline donations with your completed donation tracker form.

Can I still collect my fundraising prizes?

We're working on donation drop-off and prize pick-up details right now. Watch your email and the Virtual Walk for Animals website for more info.

If your questions aren't answered here, please call the Walk helpline at 763-432-4841 or email walk@animalhumanesociety.org.
